Why Automatic Registration Doesn’t Work

Just discovered that some spammer auto-registered and dumped all kinds of crap into the comments sections.

I don’t check back as often as I should, so this went on for several minutes before I noticed it.

Another person had “autoregistered” with a realistic sounding name, but with an e-mail that was entirely different. Again, I had no way of knowing if that was a real person or not. If it was, my apologies.

Please use the Signup/Register page to register. If you think that giving me enough information to make certain you’re a real person is too demanding, try working on this side of things for a while and dealing with spammers and scammers whose actions run the gamut from inconvenient to outright dangerous.

Sorry to have to bring a bit of 21st century realism into what should be a relaxing, escapist experience, but that’s the only way to keep it that way.

Have a most wonderful rest of the season,

Paul
